The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 50 crore on the Delhi government for not taking action against illegal, polluting steel-pickling units in the national capital’s residential areas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday interacted with medal winners of the Asian Para Games held recently in Jakarta.
“It was a delight to interact with the medal winners of the Asian Para Games held in Jakarta recently,” he tweeted posting a series of pictures of the athletes.
Referring to individual winners, he said the country was proud of their achievement.
“India is proud of Anand Kumar Boregowda for bringing home the Bronze Medal in Men’s Doubles badminton at the Asian Para Games 2018. Congratulations Anand!… Chirag Baretha was a part of the Indian team that won the Bronze Medal in Badminton.
“Wishing this inspirational sportsperson great success in the future too. We are proud of you!,” the prime minister wrote in a series of tweets.
The health condition of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was brought to the state from a hospital in New Delhi two days ago, had improved further, his office said Tuesday.
Parrikar (62), being treated for a pancreatic ailment, is recuperating at his private residence here after arriving from the national capital.
“The chief minister’s condition continues to improve. All (health) parameters remain stable. During the day, he interacted with his family members,” Rupesh Kamat, Personal Assistant to Parrikar, said in a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office here.
Parrikar was shifted from New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to the coastal state Sunday afternoon. He was brought in a special flight and later taken to his private residence.
Chinese handset maker Huawei expects to start selling its India-made Honor 8X smartphones by the end of this month, a senior official said Tuesday.
“As we unveil Honor 8X here, its production has already started at Chennai plant. The initial lot will have to be imported but the made in India Honor 8X will be available for sale by the end of this month,” P Sanjeev, Vice President Sales, Huawei India-Consumer Business Group said.
The company unveiled three models of dual 4G sim enabled Honor 8X with 4GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage for Rs 14,999, 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant for Rs 16,999 and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant for Rs 18,999 a unit.
The smartphones will be available for sale on e-commerce portal Amazon from October 24.
Sanjeev said that the company witnessed over 400 per cent jump in sales in third quarter over the second quarter of 2018 and expect to achieve the target sale during the ongoing quarter too.
