Pakistan’s interim government, headed by Prime Minister Justice (Retd.) Nasir-ul-Mulk, hiked fuel prices for the second time in two months on Saturday night, ahead of the general elections in July.The sky-high fuel prices, which will be effective from July 1, are likely to cause economic woes to the citizens of the country, Geo TV reported.As per a notification, the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, light diesel and high-speed diesel currently stand at – Rs. 99.50, Rs. 119.31, Rs. 87.70, Rs. 80.91, and Rs.105.31, respectively. Turkey launched an airstrike in northern Iraq, killing four Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists, the Turkish general staff said on Saturday.According to a statement, the airstrikes were conducted in Avasin Basyan region in northern Iraq, Anadolu News Agency reported.Turkish military officials have hinted that they plan to launch a massive operation against the PKK in Mount Qandil region in northern Iraq, which is the headquarters of the terror group.Earlier this week, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi called for the disarmament of the PKK terrorist group, including other armed groups.The PKK has been listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the US and the European Union (EU).Its terror campaign against Turkey is on for three decades now, which has resulted in the killing of more than 40,000 people.
A local, Hyder Moosvi, along with his team, is serving free food to the poor and needy here in Hyderabad.Hyder began the initiative in 2015 when they started distributing food packets eight to ten times in a month.However, from March last year, the team began distributing food packets daily, against a preparation cost of Rs. 40 per food packet, amounting to expenses worth Rs. 1.2 lakh per month.”We started food distribution in the year 2015, but at that time we use to distribute eight to ten times in a month. From 31 March 2017, we started distributing food daily at Dabeerpura bridge. People who can’t afford food come here from various places, stand in line and take food packets,” he told ANI.Moosvi further noted that if the team falls short of funds, a member from within the team itself pitches money to cover up the shortfall.”We are really happy to serve those in need,” he added.
